FAQs General

General Questions regarding the Malaysian Immigration Department:

Is there a special counter for the disabled? The Department has a special counter for the elderly, people with disabilities, and pregnant mothers. For those with special needs (physically disabled), they must obtain certification from the Social Welfare Department or a letter of confirmation from a Government Hospital medical specialist.

I was informed that the Immigration Department does not accept instant photographs taken at photo studios. Is this statement correct? Yes, because there are concerns that the quality of the photos used may not meet the Department’s requirements.

I am a Nigerian citizen and am married to a Malaysian citizen. I want to work and reside with my wife in Malaysia. I would like confirmation on whether there are facilities for people like me and what the conditions are? Yes, it is possible. The husband/wife is allowed to work without having to change the Long-Term Social Visit Pass to a Dependant Pass, provided that he/she obtains approval of work authorisation from the Malaysian Immigration Department.
