Long Term Social Visit Pass
Introduction
The Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP) is issued by the Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia to foreign nationals for temporary residence in Malaysia for a minimum period of six (6) months.
For a foreign husband or wife of a Malaysian citizen:
- The pass may be granted for up to five (5) years, subject to approval and compliance with the prescribed conditions.
- The pass holder is permitted to work, engage in business, or undertake professional employment without the need to convert to an Employment Pass or Visit Pass (Temporary Employment).
- Naziran is carried out as a verification activity to ensure that holders of immigration facilities comply with the prescribed conditions. The implementation of Naziran may involve visits to the registered address or premises, observation, interviews with relevant parties and review of documents submitted to the Department.
- The findings of Naziran are used as a supporting basis in the process of consideration, approval or extension of immigration facilities under the purview of the Visa, Pass and Permit Division.
Conditions and Regulations for Permission to Work
(Spouse of a Malaysian Citizen)
- The Immigration Department of Malaysia reserves the right to request additional documents if necessary.
- All original documents must be presented for verification. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
- The application must be submitted by the applicant together with his or her Malaysian citizen spouse.
- The applicant must be legally married to a Malaysian citizen and holding a Social Visit Pass under the spouse facility of a Malaysian citizen.
- The employment or business undertaken must be lawful under the laws of Malaysia.
- Approval to work or conduct business will be endorsed in the applicant’s passport.
- Applicants who have been granted permission to work must comply with all regulations set by the Director General of Immigration Malaysia.
Checklist of Required Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
- Copy of the Malaysian citizen spouse’s Identity Card (MyKad).
- Copy of the applicant’s passport and current pass.
- Completed Statutory Declaration Form with photograph, duly affirmed before a Commissioner for Oaths.
- Copy of Marriage Certificate or Marriage Registration Certificate.
- Letter of Offer from the employer (on official company letterhead).
- Employment Contract duly stamped with RM10 revenue stamp and containing the following details:
- Position
- Duration of employment
- Monthly salary
- Signatures of employer and employee
- Applicant, Malaysian Spouse and Employer Information Form.
- Latest copy of the Company Registration Form printed directly from the MyData SSM system.
Procedure for Applying for Endorsement of Permission to Work
- The application must be submitted at the Visa, Pass and Permit Division in the state where the applicant is employed.
- The application may be submitted:
- At the time of applying for the Long-Term Social Visit Pass; or
- At any time after receiving a job offer.
- The Malaysian Immigration Department reserves the right to request other evidence / documents if required.
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.
- The application must be submitted by the applicant in the presence of a Malaysian citizen spouse .
- The applicant is the wife or husband of a Malaysian citizen whose marriage has been legally and properly registered under the laws in force in Malaysia.
- Applicants are eligible to be given or have been given a Social Visit Pass under the facility of a foreign husband or wife to a Malaysian citizen.
- The work or business performed is a legal occupation or business in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations in force in Malaysia.
- Permission to do this job or business is recorded or endorsed in the relevant Social Visit Pass by the Director General of Immigration Malaysia or any Immigration Officer authorized to make the entry/endorsement.
- The holder of the Social Visit Pass complies with the rules set by the Director General of Immigration Malaysia for the purpose of issuing the Social Visit Pass as well as for the purpose of making the relevant notes/endorsement.
- Checklist of required documents:
- Copy of husband / wife’s Identity Card
- Copy of the Applicant’s latest Passport and pass
- Affidavit of Oath with photograph (stamped by the Commissioner of Oaths from the Government Court)
- Copy of Marriage Register / Marriage Certificate
- Job Offer Letter from the employer (using Company Letterhead )
- Employment Contract (stamped with RM 10 revenue) which explains:
- Position
- Working period
- Monthly income
- Signatures of both parties (employer and employee)
- Applicant, Citizen Spouse and Employer Information Form
- Company Registration Form (printed directly from My Data – SSM system) latest
- Applications can be made at the Visa, Pass and Permit Division, Immigration Headquarters, Putrajaya or at the nearest State Immigration Office.
- Applications can be submitted while obtaining the approval of the relevant Social Visit Pass or at any time after the relevant Social Visit Pass is issued.
- Enclose relevant supporting documents, namely:
- Marriage Certificate / Marriage Certificate
- Job Offer / Business Registration (where applicable)
Children / Stepchildren to Citizens / Children whose citizenship status has not been determined
- The application must be submitted by the citizen’s parents.
- Applicants must be under 7 years old.
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.
- The Malaysian Immigration Department reserves the right to request other evidence / documents if required.
- Enclose relevant supporting documents, namely:
- Form Imm.12
- Form Imm.38
- Copy of applicant’s Passport (all printed pages)
- Copy of Identity Card of the citizen’s parent
- Copy of Passport and Current Pass of non -citizen parent
- Divorce Certificate / Death Certificate pair, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Notarial Certificate translated in Malay / English (confirmation from the Malaysian Embassy and the Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
Elderly people aged 60 and above who do not have a family in the country of origin and have a family in this country who are willing to support
- Foreign nationals aged 60 and above who do not have a family in the country of origin and have a family in this country who are willing to support them.
- Sponsors must consist of children / daughters -in -law / siblings.
- Sponsors must have an income of RM 2000 and above.
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.
- The Malaysian Immigration Department reserves the right to request other evidence / documents if required.
- Enclose relevant supporting documents, namely:
- Form Imm.12 (2 copies)
- Form Imm.38
- Copy of applicant’s Passport (all printed pages)
- Applicant’s Declaration Letter (stamped by the Commissioner of Oaths from the Government Court)
- B person Personal Bond / Security Bond (stamped RM 10 at LHDN) – Security Bond for Chinese and Nigerian citizens
- Copy of Sponsor’s Identity Card (sponsor must be present)
- Sponsor Declaration Form (stamped by the Commissioner for Oaths from the Government Court)
- Proof of Sponsor Income
- Proof of employer’s income ( Company Letterhead ) OR
- Business License / SSM / ROC AND
- Personal Account Bank Statement – latest 3 months
- Divorce Certificate / Death Certificate pair, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Notarial Certificate translated in Malay / English (confirmation from the Malaysian Embassy and the Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
- Proof of affiliation must be submitted in the form of documents to explain the relationship between the sponsor and the applicant
The immediate family of a foreign student studying in Malaysia
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.

Widow to citizen

Widow (husband’s death) to Citizen
- The application must be submitted by the applicant in the presence of a Malaysian sponsor .
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.
- The Malaysian Immigration Department reserves the right to request other evidence / documents if required.

- Business License / SSM / ROC with Bank Statement (latest 3 months)
- Additional Documents (Certificate of Divorce / Death Certificate pair, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Notarial Certificate translated in Malay / English) – confirmation from the Malaysian Embassy and the Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs
For treatment at Medical Institutions in Malaysia including an escort
- The application must be submitted by the subject / hospital representative / patient escort.
- Limited to treatment at government hospitals / specialist hospitals only.
- Patients are only allowed to bring only one escort.
- All original documents need to be brought along for verification and only complete applications are accepted.
- The Malaysian Immigration Department reserves the right to request other evidence / documents if required.

- If any report / statement / reproduction is found to be false then it is an offense under Section 56 (1) (f) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is liable to a fine not exceeding RM 10,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or both.
